South Bendigo & Eaglehawk to clash under ANZAC Day lights

The BFNL together with the South Bendigo FNC and Eaglehawk FNC is pleased to share that their highly anticipated Round 3 and ANZAC Day clash has been relocated to Queen Elizabeth Oval (QEO) for an exciting afternoon and night of football and netball under lights.
The South Bendigo FNC will host the standalone blockbuster event, with the Senior Football and A-Grade Netball matches to be played in prime-time under the QEO’s lights. This marks a special occasion for both clubs and the wider community, bringing an electric atmosphere to the region’s premier facility.
Adding to the theatre of the event, South Bendigo FNC has partnered with the Bendigo RSL to raise funds in support of veterans and their families. Spectators will have the opportunity to contribute to this important cause through various fundraising initiatives on the night.
South Bendigo FNC General Manager, Rick Townsend expressed gratitude about being able to play on the day and the opportunity to support the RSL saying “This is a great opportunity to showcase the game on a day that means a lot the Bendigo community however it’s vital that we make sure the day is given the respect deserves.
“It’s not just a few games of football and netball. It’s about much more than that” Rick added.
President of the Bendigo RSL, Glenn Ludeman, said “The veteran community sees ANZAC Day until lunch time as a time to commemorate those that have served and fallen in defence of their nation.”
“After midday, it’s important that events on ANZAC Day recognise our Nation’s 103,021 war dead while continuing to capture the essence of our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much.”
“Partnering with the South Bendigo FNC and the BFNL for this event ensures that the essence of ANZAC Day won’t get lost” Glen added.
With gates opening at 1pm, the action will kick off with the Under 18 Football at 2.20pm before both Clubs pause for an ANZAC Day observance at 6pm. The A-Grade Netball and the Senior Football will end the evening with play set to start at 6:30pm.
