Ahead of the team’s third training session, Head Coach, Simon Rosa shared the BFNL Senior Interleague leadership group to the playing group with two of the Bendigo FNL’s most respected figures Jack Reaper (Gisborne) and Lachlan Tardrew (Sandhurst) announced as Co-Captains of the team.

Assisting Reaper and Tardrew will be Fergus Greene (Sandhurst) who was announced as Vice-Captain.

BFNL Senior Interleague Head Coach, Simon Rosa said the trio had earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike through their professionalism, consistency, and leadership both on and off the field.

“We’re thrilled to have Jack and Lachie leading the side as co-captains,” Rosa said. “They bring unique strengths to the role, and their passion for representing the BFNL is second to none. Fergus also brings elite-level experience and a strong voice within the group, and his appointment as vice-captain reflects the impact he’s made in a short time.”

Jack Reaper, a cornerstone of Gisborne FNC, is no stranger to the big stage. A 2022 Gisborne premiership player and one of the BFNL’s most reliable defenders, Reaper has previously represented the Bendigo FNL at Rep level twice including captaining the 2024 side against the VAFA. Known for his calm head and strong voice in the back half, his appointment as co-captain is recognition of his consistency, leadership and ability to inspire those around him.

Lachlan Tardrew, a genuine superstar midfielder of the BFNL and 2024 Michelsen Medalist, Tardrew makes his BFNL Rep debut after an illustrious VFL career with Collingwood. Tardrew’s return to the BFNL has been marked by consistent high-level performances and a commitment to driving standards. He will certainly be setting the tone for our 2025 Senior Interleague team.

Fergus Greene, a 2024 Ron Best Medallist with Sandhurst FNC, brings a wealth of experience to the side after stints at the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn. His leadership has already made a mark at club level, and his appointment as vice-captain is testament to his natural ability to mentor younger teammates and lead from the front.

The BFNL will host the VAFA in what is expected to be a showcase of country versus metro football at its best. The senior match will kick off at 2:00pm at the QEO, following the Under 19s starting at 11:30am.
