BFNL confirm Senior Interleague Training Squad

The BFNL together with Senior Interleague, Head Coach, Simon Rosa are pleased to share the training squad for its Senior Interleague team ahead of the upcoming clash with the VAFA on July 13 at the QEO.

After 7 Rounds of the 2025 Season, Rosa along with assistant coaches, Wayne Mitrovic, Tyrone Downie, Nick Carter, Troy Coates, Rick Ladson and Lenny Schmidt have confirmed the 41-man training squad who will be in contention to represent the Bendigo FNL in July.

Headlining the squad is 2024 Michelsen Medallist and Sandhurst Co-Coach, Lachlan Tardrew who is joined by teammate and reigning Ron Best Medal winner, Fergus Greene.

Tardrew isn’t the only Senior coach in the squad with Castlemaine coach, Michael Hartley, Eaglehawk co-coach Clayton Holmes and South Bendigo co-coach, Jack Fallon also making the training squad.

The training squad features 13 players who represented the BFNL in last years matchup against the VAFA at Elsternwick Park including Gisborne defender, Jack Reaper who captained the side in last year’s nail-biting match.

South Bendigo FNC lead the way with nine players while Sandhurst (7), Eaglehawk (6) and Gisborne (6) also have a strong presence in the training squad.

Golden Square, Strathfieldsaye and Castlemaine are all represented with four players each while Ethan Roberts is the sole Kangaroo Flat representative.

Rosa said “We’re really pleased with the depth and quality across the board in this 41-player squad. It’s a great mix of proven performers and emerging talent from all BFNL Clubs, and we’re excited to see how they come together in the training environment.”

“It’s a terrific opportunity for these players to represent the BFNL and test themselves at a higher level. Interleague footy brings the best out of the best, and I know the group will embrace the challenge.” Rosa added.

“I’ve got a fantastic coaching and support team alongside me, and we’re all committed to getting the most out of this squad. The standards will be high, and so will the support.”

The program kicks off with its first training session at Camp Reserve in Castlemaine on Wednesday 18 June before hitting the track on 25 June at Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.

The training squad will be narrowed to a 23-player team plus 2 emergencies during the week of the match where the final team will complete two training sessions on 9 & 11 July at the QEO.
