IT’S  a three-way contest to grab the fifth place on the Bendigo Football Netball League’s A-grade netball ladder.

None of the contenders – Golden Square, Maryborough or South Bendigo – added to their points tally as all were defeated in Saturday’s 15th round.

Golden Square met Kangaroo Flat in the clash between fifth and fourth on the Wade Street court.

The blue and gold played well, but it was Kangaroo Flat which scored a 43-38 victory.

South Bendigo faced the second-placed Eaglehawk at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.

The Bloods lifted the pressure at various stages, but the Hawks had too much skill and firepower on their way to a 59-33 result.

At Maryborough the Magpies took on a Gisborne line-up that ended Sandhurst’s unbeaten run the previous round.

Maryborough scored 41 goals, but Gisborne led by 28 at the final whistle.

Strathfieldsaye and Sandhurst had a rest in A-grade as they were drawn to play Castlemaine and Kyneton respectively.

A highlight of round 16 next Saturday will be Eaglehawk against Sandhurst at Canterbury Park.

Strathfieldsaye hosts Golden Square at Tannery Lane, and Kangaroo Flat faces South Bendigo at Dower Park.

Gisborne and Maryborough take a break in A-grade as those clubs are fixture to play Castlemaine and Kyneton.
