GISBORNE’s slick passing and accurate goaling could not be stopped by A-grade netball opponent Kangaroo Flat in the 10th round of the Bendigo Football Netball League season on Saturday.
Although the Roos had home-court advantage at Dower Park, it was Gisborne which controlled most of the contest on the way to a 63-47 victory.
Gisborne’s third-quarter blitz in which it added 20 goals and kept the Roos to just six was arguably its best of the season.
The unbeaten Sandhurst faced a danger game at Golden Square, but fans of the maroon and blue need not have worried.
Favourites to net back-to-back A-grade titles, Sandhurst dominated in a 60-40 victory.
Eaglehawk scored a 66-40 victory on Strathfieldsaye’s court at the Tannery Lane complex.
The sole defeat for the Two Blues this season was to a red-hot Sandhurst.
South Bendigo and Maryborough earned premiership points because of forfeits by Kyneton and Castlemaine respectively.
In next Saturday’s 11th round, Sandhurst takes on South Bendigo in the battle of the QEO co-tenants, and Gisborne plays Strathfieldsaye at Gardiner Reserve.
Maryborough faces Golden Square in a crucial match for both teams at Princes Park.
