The Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) is delighted to announce the appointment of Lauren Bowles and Jayden Cowling as co-coaches of the BFNL Open Representative Netball Team for 2027.

The brother-sister combination takes the reins of the Open representative program following the outstanding three-year tenure of Tarryn Rymer, who has played a pivotal role in rebuilding and strengthening the league's representative netball program including an outstanding victory over the Ovens & Murray FNL in our 2026 Interleague matchup.

A highly respected player and coach within the Central Victorian Netball community, Bowles brings a wealth of experience to the role including various coaching roles and 200+ senior BFNL matches for Kangaroo Flat and South Bendigo.

Lauren currently leads the South Bendigo Football Netball Club's A-Squad and continues to play an important role on the court for the Bloods’ A-Reserve team.

Cowling is no stranger to the BFNL Open team, having led the squad in various roles from 2017 through to 2026 when he was Assistant Coach under Rymer.

Currently, the head coach of Kangaroo Flat’s A-Squad, Jayden brings his own experience, enthusiasm and understanding of the game to form a formidable duo with his sister.

BFNL Manager Tom King said the league was excited to have both Lauren and Jayden involved.

“We’re really pleased to have Lauren and Jayden take on the role together. As a duo, they have a strong understanding of the game and a genuine passion representing the BFNL.”

"As current BFNL A-Grade coaches, both Lauren & Jayden have a clear vision for bringing together the best talent from across our league and we're excited to see her lead the program into its next phase."

King also paid tribute to outgoing coach Tarryn Rymer for her significant contribution over the past three years.

"On behalf of the BFNL, I would like to sincerely thank Tarryn for her professionalism and commitment to our representative program," he said.

"Tarryn has been instrumental in re-establishing the profile of BFNL open age representative netball post COVID. Her passion for high-level netball is clear and the culture she created has left the program in a fantastic position. We are incredibly grateful for everything Tarryn has contributed and wish her every success in the future."

Work on a playing squad and schedule will begin over the coming months before Lauren and Jayden lead the BFNL’s Open Team on a return Interleague trip to the North-East of Victoria to face the Ovens & Murray FNL in 2027.
