Golden Square stuns Bloods in netball clash

GOLDEN Square marked its first victory of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL A-grade netball season on Saturday.

The Teigan Redwood-coached Golden Square stunned South Bendigo on the Wade Street court.

The blue and gold teamed brilliantly to clinch a 44-39 victory at home against the Bloods.

Golden Square is now just two points behind the fifth-placed South Bendigo which is being coached by Lauren Bowles this season.

Another big upset was the margin between Sandhurst and Gisborne at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst dominated most of the contest on its court.

At the final siren the Dragons led 50-32 against the Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne which is chasing a premiership hat-trick.

Kangaroo Flat’s hot streak kept rolling.

The Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroos again passed the 75-goal mark in a 55-goal victory against Strathfieldsaye Storm.

Last season’s runner-up, Kangaroo Flat’s slick teamwork, strong defence and accuracy near goal were all on display on its court at Dower Park.

The Roos marked a 79-24 win against the Jess Mangan-coached Storm.

It was a rest for Eaglehawk in A-grade, but the Two Blues did play in all other grades on Castlemaine’s courts at Camp Reserve.
