ROUND 2 NETBALL REVIEW | Gisborne takes points against South Bendigo
GISBORNE took the premiership points in a seven-goal win against South Bendigo in Saturday’s second round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL season.
The Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne struck back from the Good Friday loss at home to reigning premier Kangaroo Flat to score a 47-40 win against the Bloods.
It was South Bendigo’s first home of the season at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington following wins at Broadford and Castlemaine.
At Eaglehawk it was the Janelle Hobbs-coached Hawks who soared to a 33-goal victory against Golden Square.
The Two Blues dominated play at C & M Oval in Canterbury Park to win 72-39.
On-going development works at Golden Square’s Wade Street Oval meant the matches were switched to the Borough.
Was a tough hit-out for the Teigan Redwood-coached Golden Square which had won at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve in round one.
League powers Kangaroo Flat and Sandhurst surged past the 90-plus goal mark.
The Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroos netted a 96-17 victory against Castlemaine on Flat’s court in Dower Park.
The Vanessa Saunders-coached Castlemaine is back in A-grade after last season’s recess.
Sandhurst almost hit the century in a 99-28 win against Broadford at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Runner-up last season the Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst is a well-drilled team.
It was the first match the Jaimie Hooper-coached Broadford played at the iconic venue.
Strathfieldsaye had the bye.
In next Saturday’s third round, Eaglehawk marks a hat-trick of home games when it hosts Kangaroo Flat at C & M Oval in Canterbury Park from 2.30pm.
First of the A-grade matches starts at 2pm when Broadford takes on Golden Square on the Kangaroos’ court at Harley Hammond Reserve.
Gisborne and Strathfieldsaye will clash at Melbourne North Truck Centre Oval in Gisborne’s Gardiner Reserve from 2.30pm.
It will be a 3.20pm start as Castlemaine plays South Bendigo at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
Sandhurst has the bye.
