SANDHURST outpointed South Bendigo in Saturday’s round 15 clash in Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL A-grade netball.
The Dragons and Bloods renewed their rivalry at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Both clubs were co-tenants at the iconic ground for many decades before South Bendigo relocated to Harry Trott Oval in Kennington’s Neale Street.
On Saturday it was the Tamara Gilchrist-coached Sandhurst which had the anwers in a 53-42 win against the Bloods.
Fourth in the premiership race on an 8-6 record, the Lauren Bowles-coached South Bendigo is yet to beat any of the league’s top three in Kangaroo Flat, Sandhurst or Gisborne this season.
Closest margin in Saturday’s play was at Eaglehawk’s C and M Oval in Canterbury Park where the Hawks took on Gisborne.
A high-scoring match in the Borough went Gisborne’s way, 51-47.
Depending on finals venues it may be the last time the Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne will play at Canterbury Park.
Although disappointed not to have taken the points the Janelle Hobbs-coached Eaglehawk will have gained a lot of confidence from such a strong opponent.
The Hawks held fifth place on the ladder, but were joined by Strathfieldsaye on 24 points after Storm won at Broadford by 36 goals.
The Jess Mangan-coached Strathfieldsaye played well at Broadford’s Harley Hammond Reserve to claim a 61-25 victory.
A young Broadford team coached by Jaimie Hooper will round out its debut season in the Bendigo FNL by playing Gisborne, away; Castlemaine, home; and Eaglehawk, away; across the next three Saturdays.
Golden Square could not halt the charge of the powerful Kangaroo Flat at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
The clash of the neighbouring suburbs ended in an 88-47 victory for Kangaroo Flat.
After a bye in round 16 the Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroos resume their chase for back-to-back premierships by playing South Bendigo, home; and Strathfieldsaye, away; in the lead-up to another finals campaign.
Castlemaine had the bye.

Feature match in the 16th round will be South Bendigo against Golden Square from 2.30pm at Harry Trott Oval in Neale Street, Kennington.
First of the A-grade matches will be at 2pm when Gisborne faces Broadford at Melbourne North Truck Centre Oval in Gisborne’s Gardiner Reserve.
Strathfieldsaye plays Sandhurst from 2.30pm at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
Castlemaine and Eaglehawk clash at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve from 3.20pm.
Kangaroo Flat has the bye.
