BFNL Netballers continue to play at a higher level in 2025

The quality and depth of Bendigo FNL Netball has never been questioned and in 2025, it may be at its highest-level year.

No less than 32 BFNL aligned netballers will hold spots on Victoria Netball League (VNL) or Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) lists in 2025, solidifying the BFNL as one of country Victoria’s best netball talent pools.

The 2024 introduction of the Bendigo Strikers given players within the Bendigo region an avenue to elite coaching, training and competition which has seen a boom in the number of BFNL based netballers plying their trade at a higher level.

Headlining the list is Sandhurst’s Charlotte Sexton who won’t technically be aligned to Sandhurst in 2025 due to her Melbourne Vixens Training Partner commitments, but we have included her due to her long-term success at the Dragons.

Other players with SSN alignment are Zoe Davies (Gisborne, Bendigo Strikers &Melbourne Mavericks), Teal Hocking (Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo Strikers & Melbourne Mavericks) & Ruby Turner (Sandhurst, Bendigo Strikers & Melbourne Vixens).

Clearly the Bendigo Strikers are the most represented VNL team with no less than 26 BFNL players representing the Strikers in either their Championship, 23 & Under or Developments squads.

Leading the charge for the Strikers is their Captain and 2-time Betty Thompson Medallist for Kangaroo Flat, Chealsea Sartori. Another BFNL star with captaincy duties is young-gun Shae Clifford from Sandhurst who leads the Strikers 23 & Under squad.

In 2025, the Strikers introduced a Development Squad provides the best local talent the opportunity to develop and extend their skills in a high-performance training environment.

Golden Square FNC are well represented in this squad with 6 players holding spots including Daisy Stringer, Holly Swatton, Keira Lawry, Emma Keating, Charli Hamilton and Amelia Mundy.

The Strikers are not the only VNL team with BFNL influence as the Melbourne University Lightning (Claudia Mawson, Charlee Kemp & Kirby Elliot), Booroondara Express (Ruby Barkmeyer & Sophie Shoebridge) and Western Warriors (Dasha Taylor).

While these players continue to juggle their playing commitments, their BFNL clubs remain as their home Club meaning you can watch the best talent right here in the BFNL.

See below a list of BFNL netballers playing at either VNL or SSN level in 2025
