MFNC - 2022 Senior Coaching announcement

The Maryborough Football Netball Club (MFNC) is excited to announce the appointment of Rick Andrews as Senior Football coach.

Andrews who has shared success as a player and coach since beginning his senior career in 1992 has signed with MFNC for at least the next three seasons.

Andrews is no stranger to MFNC, he was a key player in 1997 and in the 1999 premiership. In 2000 and 2001 he was a Senior Assistant Coach.

Andrews’ endeavours continued with Sandhurst FNC (including a premiership in 2004), Charlton FNC (including premierships in 2005 & 2009) and Clunes FNC.

Club President, Brendan Roughead is thrilled to welcome such an accomplished coach for season 2022.

Andrews is a highly motivated and enthusiastic coach who will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge from his involvement with some very successful clubs. We believe Andrews will be a tremendous asset to our club, he is someone who will provide leadership, direction and development to both the young and more experienced members of our playing group. ”

In more recent years Andrews’ focus has turned to junior coaching positions with the AFL State Academy within the Vic Country Program, Ballarat Goldfields Academy, Western Bulldogs Next Generation U15 Academy and the Head Coach of Greater Western Victoria Rebels - NAB/TAC Cup U16/U17.

I am really grateful to have the opportunity to coach such a proud and successful club like Maryborough. To work with a young and emerging group was a big motivating factor. I already have some great memories here, but hope my best ones will be created in the future with this playing group and community”, Andrews said.

Andrews’ first priority, once out of lockdown will be contacting and meeting up with the 2021 playing group.

Andrews was chosen to succeed outgoing coach Justin Abrams. MFNC thanks Abrams for his dedication to the players and for his continued effort to improve club culture and on-field performance during two very challenging years. The Club wishes Justin, Ange, Jake, Lachie and Macy all the best.
