BFNL 2021 Netball Victoria Association Championships - Coaching announcement
The Bendigo Football Netball League can today confirm Jayden Cowling will assume the head coach role for both the Bendigo FNL 17 & Under Netball and Open Netball representative teams in season 2021, who will contest the Netball Victoria Association Championships later this year.
As the successful coach of the 2019 BFNL open netball team, Jayden had committed to again lead the open team for season 2020, before the entire season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a well-known and highly credentialled coach, and state/national netball representative player in his own right, Jayden is eager to repeat the successful 2019 representative campaign for the open team, whilst also overseeing the development of the League’s brightest upcoming talent in the 17 & Under grade this season.
The 17 & Under team will commence trials this Sunday 2nd May, followed by a second trial on Wednesday 5th May, before competing in a warm-up tournament prior to the June 6th Netball Victoria Association Championships Northern qualifier at the Bendigo Stadium. The NV Association Championships Finals will be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre in July.
BFNL Manager Cameron Tomlins said “Jayden is an outstanding coach, leader and person of strong character in general, who has proven his ability to effectively lead a variety of netball teams to success in our region. His ability to develop, instill confidence, build relationships, and achieve complete investment from players and volunteers alike provides the BFNL representative program with a great chance to succeed.”
“This season, as we continue to rebound post COVID, the League will be deferring regular Interleague participation for both football and netball programs until 2022 whilst we continue to offer support to our local clubs and volunteers to ensure their stability for 2021 and beyond. Regardless, the BFNL hold representative competition in high regard as an opportunity for players to further develop and compete at the highest level possible, and we are thrilled to offer a streamlined opportunity to do so for our highly talented netballers this year.”
The freshly re-appointed BFNL coach Jayden Cowling said “It’s a genuine honor and privilege to be given the opportunity to lead and represent both our BFNL netball teams in 2021. I am really looking forward to building on where we left off with the Opens in 2019, and to be able to work in the junior program is something that really excites me. The level of talent we have in the Bendigo Football Netball League is incredible, so I am looking forward to working alongside both our experienced players within the league, but also our up-and-coming superstars.”
Each BFNL club has now had an opportunity to nominate 17 & Under players for consideration to be included in the 2021 program selection process, with further announcements regarding team assistant coaching appointments and team selections to be made soon.
