THE only team to beat Sandhurst in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League’s A-grade netball this season, Gisborne will aim to do so again in Sunday’s second semi-final.

Gisborne and Sandhurst will clash at the QEO from 3.20pm.

The Gisborne line-up began the Poyser Trucks Bendigo-backed finals series by defeating Eaglehawk in the qualifying final.

The red, white and blue won 60-50.

Sandhurst’s sole defeat in the home and away series was a 50-47 defeat on Gisborne’s court at Gardiner Reserve in the 14th round.

There is plenty more at stake at this time.

When the second semi-finalists last met at the QEO, Sandhurst won 51-40 in round five.

In terms of goals for, Sandhurst leads Gisborne, 892 to 775, but Gisborne has conceded less goals, 564 to 596.

Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat will fight to stay in the premiership race in Saturday night’s first semi-final.

The Hawks are on the rebound from a qualifying final defeat, while the Roos eliminated Golden Square in a 52-32 victory.

Eaglehawk will start favourite in the clash under the QEO lights from 6.20pm.

In round eight, Eaglehawk beat Kangaroo Flat by 18 goals on the Borough’s court in Canterbury Park.

A low-scoring contest on the Kangaroos’ court at Dower Park in the 17th round ended in a 48-28 win for the Hawks.

The Two Blues are well in front of their rivals on goals scored, 816 to 732, but against is extremely close, 628 to 623.

A 56-all draw with Sandhurst in the 12th round at Dower Park showed what Kangaroo Flat is capable of.
