Golden Square Anxiously Await A Grade Results
STUCK on the sidelines because it has a bye in A-grade netball action, Golden Square will anxiously await the result of two other matches in Saturday’s 18thround in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League.
A five-goal loss at home to Gisborne last week sent Golden Square sliding to the seventh rung on the ladder.
Equal on points with Maryborough and South Bendigo, Golden Square could jump back into the finals without having to take the court.
The blue and gold has superior percentage to the fifth and sixth-placed Magpies and Bloods, and earns four points for a bye.
A Maryborough victory at Eaglehawk could book a finals berth, but it would have to be a significant margin as Square is seven per clear of the Magpies.
The Pies face a huge task against the Hawks on the Canterbury Park court.
When these clubs last met, Eaglehawk won by 32 goals at Barkers Trailers Oval in Princes Park, Maryborough.
South Bendigo is also under enormous pressure against the second-placed Gisborne at Gardiner Reserve.
In round nine, Gisborne defeated the Bloods by 25 goals.
Strathfieldsaye Storm takes on Kangaroo Flat at Tannery Lane from 4pm.
The Roos will start hot favourite.
In round nine, Kangaroo Flat marked its highest score of the year when it piled on 77 goals against Strathfieldsaye.
The fourth-placed Roos are the only team to take points off Sandhurst as the 12th round match at Dower Park ended 56-all.
Top of the A-grade ladder, Sandhurst has two weeks rest because it’s drawn to play Castlemaine in the 18th round.
Golden Square’s lower grade teams make the trek to Kyneton Showgrounds to take on the Tigers.
