Hawks Dominate on Kangaroo Flat's Court
EAGLEHAWK had too much attacking power for A-grade netball opponent Kangaroo Flat to stop in Saturday’s 17th round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League season.
The Kangaroos had home-court advantage at Dower Park, but it was the Hawks who had all the answers.
Although desperate to prove it could be a threat to the league’s top three, Kangaroo Flat could not do so on this occasion.
At the final whistle Eaglehawk led 48-28.
Kangaroo Flat will aim to rebound from defeat when it plays at Strathfieldsaye next Saturday.
Results in the other four A-grade matches went as expected.
Gisborne scored a 34-29 victory at Golden Square.
The result meant Golden Square slipped to the seventh rung and a win behind Maryborough and South Bendigo which are on 28 points.
Golden Square could climb back to the fifth rung as it has superior percentage to the Magpies and Bloods who face tough round 18 matches at Eaglehawk and Gisborne respectively.
The Square gains four points in the final round as its drawn to play Kyneton at Tigerland.
Beaten just once this season, Sandhurst passed the 75-goal mark in its clash on Maryborough’s Princes Park court.
The maroon and blue dominated in a 78-43 victory.
Sandhurst’s A-grade team has a rest as its drawn to play Castlemaine at the QEO.
Closest match of the day was at Queen Elizabeth Oval where South Bendigo fought to achieve a 44-37 win against Strathfieldsaye.
Storm followed up a great win against Golden Square the previous round with another strong performance against the Bloods.
Castlemaine and Kyneton did battle in the lower netball grades on the Magpies’ court at Camp Reserve.
