Golden Square Faces Danger Game Against South Bendigo

GOLDEN Square’s grip on the fifth rung of the A-grade netball ladder is under threat when it plays South Bendigo in Saturday’s 14th round in the Bendigo Football Netball League season.
The blue and gold lead Maryborough by just four points and five per cent going into what is a danger game on South’s court at the QEO.

When these clubs met, Golden Square fought on for a 40-37 win against the Bloods.

Although its chances of a finals berth are remote, a South Bendigo victory will keep those faint hopes flickering.

Stung by a two-goal loss at Eaglehawk last round, Golden Square will be determined to take the points this time.

Gisborne takes on the unbeaten Sandhurst at Gardiner Reserve.

The maroon and blue attack dominated in last week’s 44-goal win against Strathfieldsaye.

In round five, Sandhurst won 51-40 against the red, white and blue.

Fans can expect a closely-fought contest on Gisborne’s court.

Maryborough takes on Strathfieldsaye at Tannery Lane.

The Magpies will start favourite against a team chasing its first win of the season.

The round five showdown ended in a 63-45 win for the Borough against Storm at Princes Park.

Eaglehawk’s and Kangaroo Flat’s A-grade teams have a rest this Saturday because of forfeits by Kyneton and Castlemaine respectively.

Bendigo FNL A-grade netball ladder:

Sandhurst 48 points, 156 per cent; Eaglehawk 44, 128; Gisborne 138, 40; Kangaroo Flat 32, 117; Golden Square 28, 86; Maryborough 81, 24; South Bendigo 77, 20; Strathfieldsaye 12, 51.
