Maryborough FNC have appointed former Werribee VFL and Bellarine Football League player Ben Lavars as its new coach for the next two seasons.
Lavars has an impressive record playing two seasons with VFL team Werribee , six seasons with the very succesful St Mary's Football club in the Geelong League winning the 2010 Mathieson Medal for the Leagues' best and fairest. Lavars has captained the Geelong Amatuers for the past three seasons and during that time he played in three grand finals for two premierships.
Maryborough Football Netball Club President Brendan Roughead said "Lavars brought with him a wealth of playing and finals experience. The Club is very excited to get a coach with the qualities of Ben to lead our senior team".
Lavars will move to Maryborough with his family and take up a teaching role in the town.
